EGYPTIAN PASTE EGG
These collectible eggs are made from Egyptian paste, the first self-glazing clay.
While the precise recipe used in ancient times remains a mystery, Egyptian paste is the first self-glazing clay, and earliest example of glazed ceramics.
The paste is salt-rich, which gets carried to the surface of the clay as it dries, encrusting it in a thin salt shell which melts into a glassy finish during a single firing.
COLOR
The bright acid-green and metalic purple are achieved using chromium and manganese dioxide.
NEST
The serpentine nest is made of white stoneware 3D-printed in-hand.
COIN
Hidden inside each egg is a single ceramic coin; the first issue of the Metropolis World clay token, made from red stoneware.
It features the reversible M/W logo in the center, and the emblem of each of the elemental cities: space, pixel, air, water, fire, and earth.
BOX
Each egg and nest come packaged in a limited-edition Dark Egg box with 2-color collaboration graphic branding silk-screen printed by hand.
